[03 May 2005|08:00pm]

Seems I'm not the only one who likes to stay up all night, seeing as Fukuda was up, too. I can't understand why he'd be up, though I have a feeling he was probably studying over something. The boy is tireless...

He saw me, and being the sneaky bastard that he is, would probably find some way to get me in trouble if I didn't scamper back off to my room, so I went fast before he could say anything. Looks like I won't be doing any laundry tonight... And I really needed clean clothes, too. I'll just have to rummage around in my closet until I find something worth bringing with me... This might take a while.

Now I'm starting to listen to what everyone else is saying, and I'm beginning to wonder about the possibilities of a Battle Royale. Akemi thinks it's quite plausible, and I was reading what Eiji and Ryoushi thought about it earlier. It's a scary thought, I'll admit, and I know it exists, since Nao has all the proof anyone would ever need, and she doesn't lie... Somehow, though, I don't think the risks are all that high. The chances of it happening are slim to none, and I think the government really doesn't have it happen as often as we all like to think. I mean, sure, they'll have a few of the games, but only every now and then to terrify the country back into obeying.

Fukuda wouldn't believe this theory of mine, though. No doubt he'd debate that there are too many completed games to count. He's such a government whore. The other day he was preaching about how the Great Dictator wasn't real, and was just a brilliant joke in the eyes of the real government heads as they struck fear into this "pathetic, little country of ours." I don't like him or his views much, but I'll admit, he's right about one thing. This country is little and pathetic. If we can't even defend ourselves and stop the dictatorship for destroying our lives, then every word of that statement's true.

I can't really go pointing fingers though. We're damned if we do and we're damned if we don't, anyway...

Name: Fukuda Shimamura
Age: 16

Gender: Male
Date of Birth: 13th of August
Report Card: A

Personal Information

Appearance: Besides the constant dark tousled, stringy hair that hangs like a mop around his head, Fukuda is actually quite well-groomed. He has brown, drooping eyes that seem set in a dull stare and a wide face. Though of average height, he’s on the heavy side from lack of exercise and over-eating. Even though he’s still in his teens, puberty had hit him early on and because of this, he has more facial hair than the average 9th grade student, which he keeps cleanly shaven, save the goatee he keeps that he claims is his “distinction of character.” Fukuda is usually found wearing suitable, dressy clothing, such as button down shirts, dress pants, and leather shoes. That is, of course, when he’s not in his uniform.

Personality: In a sense, Fukuda is incredibly studious. Most of the time, when he’s not working on schoolwork, he can be found with his nose in a book, sucking up information like a vacuum. Things come easily enough to him, and with his added effort, he excels through his classes with near ease. He believes that it is absolutely necessary to succeed in academics, and often finds himself irritated and disgusted when he sees the lack of care in other students as they let their grades drop to anything below As.

Through his studying, Fukuda has found one hobby and skill that he can call his own, besides being a brain, and that is cooking. He’s watched after and learned a great deal about the trade, and has perfected it on his own levels. Making delicious meals all the time, he gorges himself on what he likes to refer to as “a job well done,” and because of this, has become rather stocky.

He doesn’t participate in any extra curricular activities, and finds gym and sports to be nothing but a pain, which he skips out on as much as he can get away with, though it doesn’t help his weight problem any more.

Unlike the views and opinions of many of his peers, Fukuda does, in fact, support the government and sees their views as perfectly logical. In the future, he has hopes of becoming a prestigious government official himself, and if not that, a cop to carry out the work of the government, or even possibly a runner of the ever famous (with him, at least) Battle Royales.

The rest of his student body that he attends school with annoys him to no end, and he can’t stand a single one of them. The populars are by no means of any interest to him, as he sees them as flashy whores who focus entirely too much on image and not enough on school. The jocks are by no means intellectual, and he finds them devoid of carrying a conversation worth while, never mind the fact that they do sports. Any individualists he finds too out there for his taste, coming off to him as rejects of the plain and simple cut out dolls the dictatorship has in mind. He can’t stand the rebels worst of all, though, whose blunt opposition to the government have created a deep-seeded hatred of them in him.

Strengths:

Knowledge. From all of his studying, Fukuda has retained enough information to help him slip by most situations virtually fine. His know how ranges from basic survival tactics to how to think logically in a panicked situation, and though he may not be the best at carrying these things out, he can still put them to good use.

Food. Because of his interest in the world of culinary, he’s able to determine what foods are decent to eat and what aren’t.

Cooking. His perfected cooking skills allow him to wield a knife quite readily, which could come in handy in a kill or be killed situation.

Weaknesses:

Physical Shape. Because of his over-eating and lack of physical training, Fukuda isn’t equipped well for extreme running or fighting and even mild things tire him out easily.

Rivalry. Because of his pushy, over the top ways that force him to drive himself on and stay ahead of the game, Fukuda could push himself too far in attempts to beat out classmates in nearly… Anything.

Egotistic. His haughty ways won’t allow him to work with anyone else. Forget the fact that he despises everyone in his class, this guy likes to work alone.

Overnight bag: His school uniform, spare prime clothes, a few notebooks and pens for notes, his toiletries, small packages of non-perishable food that he had made himself for the trip, and a small fork and knife kit to dine with. Also included is a few thick encyclopedias that he intends to finish within the next few days, as well as a cassette player with a recorded tape of a long and important speech made by the government heads. Coincidently, this speech happens to be the one that had initiated the BR act, which Fukuda has admired and treasured for a number of years.

Student Background & History

Family:

Eiri Shimamura, Fukuda’s father. [DECEASED] A loud, jovial, happy man, Eiri met his wife, Chihiro, when they were both in their early twenties, and soon after married. Eiri was constantly in high spirits, but found the government oppressing and unfair, and deeply detested them. Because of this, he rallied together gangs to try and overthrow the dictatorship gradually. All of this was to no avail, and he was killed by soldiers in one of his many small attempts of, as he liked to put it, “Freeing the country.”

Chihiro Shimamura, Fukuda’s mother. [DECEASED] A pleasant, understanding woman, Chihiro joined Eiri’s side in his plan to cleanse the country of the unjust ways of the government. She stood faithfully by his side till the end, and was killed by the same soldiers right along with her husband.

History: For the first few years of his existence, Fukuda lived a happy, careless life as his parents focused all of their attention and love on him. It wasn’t his parents brought him with them into as they plotted to rid everyone of the dictatorship in the later years of his life that the boy began to find that the reckless lifestyle of his upbringing wasn’t all that glamorous.

At the age of nine, he found out that his parents were killed by soldiers, and was surprisingly keen on this new development. From that moment on, Fukuda took control of his life and decided to become as highly in control and respected as the government. He traveled alone and orphaned for the ninth year of his life until one day, in a twist of fate, he crossed paths with Shizuru Hanazawa, and after some brief, significant event, came to be sheltered at the same orphanage as her.

He spent the rest of his life so far living at the orphanage, which he hates with a passion. All the while he sought after gaining knowledge in hopes that his dreams of becoming a government bigwig would come true.

Teacher Observations

Class Behavior: Fukada is the ideal student of every teacher’s dreams. His grades are always outstanding, he’s always attentive during classes and lessons, and when there’s free time during school, he’s constantly going over work and studying. Better yet, Fukada hasn’t been swayed by any of his fellow peers into the materialistic sense of fashion and appearance, nor does he show any signs of even partially relating to the class rebels. The only real problem with him is his lack of interest in physical education.

Friends/Relationships

Shizuru Hanazawa: Living at the same orphanage and being of the same age, it was practically impossible for him not to be acquainted with her. However, the two do not get along, and though the reasoning remains unknown, Fukuda blames her for his stranded life at the orphanage. He will constantly rat her out any chance he gets, and because of this, Shizuru responded with a resounding dislike for him as well.

Besides this one specific interaction, Fukuda doesn’t hang out with any other classmates, and prefers it that way. In fact, he hates all of them and most of them hate him in return. He also tends to pick on some of the other students in the grade who are timid and, in truth, rather unfortunate.

Shizuru Hanazawa [01 May 2005|02:28am]

Name: Shizuru Hanazawa

Age: 16

Gender: Female

Date of Birth: 17th of September

Report Card: D

Personal Information

Appearance: Shizuru loves gothic fashion, but tends to add her own creative flare to her costumes. Mostly dressed in black, she will often wear one other colorful item. She has shoulder length hair, but it flicks up at the sides so looks shorter, and is always worn down. She sometimes wears visual kei style makeup (ie, a pattern on the cheek, below the eye or something else weird). She is quite short and average weight.

Personality: Loud and bubbly, Shizuru is often making lots of jokes. However, she doesn’t care what most people think of her, and will carry on being outgoing even when people put her down. She is also known for never wearing her school uniform, which annoys the teachers. She can sometimes act quite motherly towards her friends, but tends to try cheering everyone up rather than actually solving a problem.

Strengths:

Strong Minded. She believes she is right and will persevere with things she starts. This focus can also help her stay cool during a crisis.

Understanding of Human Nature. Seeing the country around her collapse, Shizuru has taken to studying Psychology and Sociology even during other lessons. This means that she has a far better grasp of why people do things than the other students. She is also acutely aware of people’s body language, facial expressions, etc. so can read people better and also make herself appear more trustworthy, intimidating, etc.

Sneaking and Hiding. Since Shizuru’s love for certain music and other goods is illegal, she’s become excellent at sneaking things around with her and keeping them hidden from other’s knowledgeable view.

Weaknesses:

Loudness. Simply, she doesn’t realize how loudly she talks.

Feet. Shizuru had an operation on her foot at a younger age, and now she can’t walk on it for long periods of time.

Sleeping Habits. Shizuru has the tendency to stay up late and deprive herself of sleep, usually running on caffeine and her own personal adrenaline source during the day. This creates problems since she’s weakened by lack of sleep.

Overnight bag: Within her bag, she’s packed a change of her generic black clothes, her toiletries, a walkman, a burned CD crammed with illegally downloaded Dir en grey, and a few chocolate bars. Included in her bag is also a small compact of paste like makeup in the colors of dark and light blue, purple, white, black, and lime green. Recently, Shizuru had come across a pawn shop where she had found an in depth copy of a translated English book on sociology, which she packed as well.

Student Background & History

Family:

None known about. She was found on a doorstep as a baby in a rag with no possessions or clues to her parents apart from a name on a piece of paper. This was assumed to be the baby’s name, as the official files didn‘t turn up anyone local with the name. It is suspected that she was the baby of a prostitute who couldn’t afford abortion as the doorstep was that of an orphanage located near the red light district. Although the orphanage, which she lovingly refers to as 'The Home,' tries to offer a caring environment, she hasn’t made any close attachments to anyone else there, save some of the children she looks after to help out, and even these bonds are thin.

History: An orphan. She has always attended the school and so has long histories with some of the other classmates. She has never been into dating, so the gossipers tend to label her as lesbian (especially with her close friendship with Nao Fuyukyou since last year). She has also never been on a sports team or in an after school club.

Teacher Observations

Class Behavior: Ditzy and sometimes erratic behavior. She will sometimes sit on the floor, on a window ledge or other random spot and refuse to move. In between periods of unpredictable behavior, she is engrossed in psychology or sociology books and never does any of the set work. She is also known to be absent for exams and is completely honest when she states that she just chose not to be there.

Friends/Relationships:

Nao Fuyukyou: Nao and Shizuru have been best friends since they met, and through thick and thin, have been there for each other. Since Shizuru is an orphan, Nao is the closest person to her, and she regards her as family.

Asuka Akashita & Ayane Mishima: Through Nao’s constant bickering with them (mainly Asuka), Shizuru has found herself irritated by the duo, though she tries to avoid conflict with them for her own state of logically sane mind.

Akemi Isamu: Shizuru met Akemi through Nao. They’re similar tastes in music helped them see eye to eye in things, and Shizuru views Akemi as a friend.

Yume Mifune: Shizuru enjoys Yume’s company and the fact that the girl can get her to laugh, plus the fact that she can make killer brownies. They hang out frequently, though Shizuru is sometimes concerned by the type of ‘shield’ of suspicion she seems to put up when around people she isn’t very close to.

Eiji Satou: She met him through Nao. They’re good friends, connecting on their bubbly optimism, love of sweets, and attachment and friendship they both have with Nao. Because of her slight fostering nature, Shizuru tends to look after him in her own little way, just as she does with all of her tight friendships.

Ryoushi Kotaro: Eiji’s best friend, she gets along with him on joking, friendly terms, and they sometimes tease each other offhandedly without meaning to. She admires his leadership and the motivation he gives to others.

Fukuda Shimamura: Lives at the same orphanage as Shizuru. They aren't fond of each other, though Fukuda shows this more often and more obviously than Shizuru does. She does, in fact, hate him to a point, and feels that she's acquired an unnecessary injury on his behalf, but hasn't vocalized these concerns with anyone as of yet. Despite all the hate she has for him, they share a common bond of being orphaned, and though Fukuda doesn't give a rat's ass about her, she sympathizes with his bitterness, if only so much.

Ryouichi Ayimyaku: Shizuru has recently kept a close eye on him for unprecedented reasons, though she holds back when it come to talking with him.

Shizuru tends to find it easier to make friends with girls than boys and stays within a tight group of friends.

[ mood | Awake, awake, awake! ]
[ music | Something on the radio... ]

It's late and yet I refuse to go to bed. Just too much to do. Why bother sleeping when you can get more done during those late hours of the night? See? Makes sense when you think about it.

Well, I've started packing for the trip tomorrow. I've got another book of mine, my walkman, the new Dir en grey that Nao'll listen to tomorrow, and... That's it. I can't find any clothes to change into for the trip that I can pack. Besides what I'm wearing to school tomorrow, the only other option is my actual uniform, and I'm sure as hell not wearing that... Hmm, I wonder if I can get away with doing laundry this late. Let's cross our fingers I don't get caught.

In other news, it seems Ayemi has the same taste in music as me, so I'm hoping to talk with her tomorrow about it as well. Besides talking with Nao, that's the only other thing that I'm looking forward to.

This trip is gonna suck so much. I really shouldn't bother going. Why even bother going to school in the first place? All they ever spew to us is lies. If I wanted to be fed bullshit everyday, I'm sure there are plenty of other ways in the world that don't involve putting up with the idiocy of a large amount of the student body.

Well, it looks like this is gonna be another all nighter. I'm going to just leave earlier tomorrow... Er, today to catch good seats on the bus. If I'm lucky, I can get something at the back. Wouldn't that be great, Nao? I think so.

[ music | Dir en grey (Shh! It's a secret...) ]

Well, Nao started a journal of her own, and since I can't properly comment in her journal as anonymous, I figured I'd start one as well.

School was, as usual, a war zone. The ever snotty Asuka took a new job upon herself and decided to use itching powder in the worst way on Nao. The poor thing. She was fidgeting all day. I didn't personally experience what had happened, since I had skived out during gym. I was much busier preoccupying myself with watching... Uh, actually, I shouldn't be saying anything.

Today at ‘The Home,’ I was helping out with a bunch of the little kids. Halfway through the day, they demanded cookies. I had to bargain with them and finally got them to settle for a bag of chips I had brought back from school. They’re a handful, but they’re just too cute. ^^ Wow, I wonder if I was like that growing up here…

Oh god, Nao, I just got another song of Dir en grey’s. You’ll love this one, I guarantee it. You’ll have to have a listen during the trip or something. I know its risky to have this music and all, but I just can’t help myself. Isn’t pirated radio great?

I find myself continuously zoning out lately. More frequently than usual. The only conclusion that I can come up with is that something’s off and some where inside of me I know what it is, but somehow the rest of my mind and body can’t pick up on it. It almost feels like this impending doom now… I need more me time.

I probably shouldn't be stating this in the open here, but Nao, I think I need to confess something and you're the only one I can confine this to. I know you probably won't approve, and I don't know where this is coming from exactly, but... It's just hard to explain and I don't know what else to do. I'll talk to you tomorrow about it. I've got to run off to bed now if I want to finish this new book I found in a pawn shop before 3 PM.

Night!
